planning to go to New York City?

We had a very memorable vacation there while we visited the New York City last week. It enlarged our knowledge of big city. I want to tell you, you’d better get all the information ready before you go. Otherwise you would get lost in the city and would not know what to do in the next minutes.
For many times, we just stood in the middle of the street and asked each other what was our next thing to do. We did not check the information so much, so we did not know what the big buildings were. One time we just stood in front of the NBC studios and looked at the people in the street. The next morning, when we turned on TV, we found that famous people were doing concert in the square where we stood yesterday.
Are you planning your next summer vacation to attend New York City tours? Or you have things to do in New York ?

the first trip to NYC (1) — going to the train station

Posted on June 28th, 2008 in Arts & Humanities, New York, Recreation & Sports, Society & Culture, travel by jiajun925

In the weekend we went to NYC. The whole trip was not what I expected.

On Thursday, I woke up at 3:30 and got up 3:50. Before I went to sleep, I had pee problem. I went to pee every 5 minutes maybe because I got pee nervous.

In the way driving to Albany train station, there was a long distance people were doing construction for the road. After the construction part and we got on some bridge, it scared honey.

Finally we got to the station safely and in time, much earlier than the departure time.

I thought honey was very excited because that was his first time to take Amtrak.

tax in Japan

Posted on June 25th, 2008 in Arts & Humanities, Business & Economy, Society & Culture by jiajun925

When I got to Japan, the tax was 3%. From everything I bought, I paid extra 3% of the price. I was thinking, I am not the citizen and I did not get any profits from them, why I should pay that. And at that time I was so healthy like a bull, I never got sick even a cold. Anyway at that time, for me, a person from other country and lived on part-time job, it was a big thing for me.

Later it was changed to 5%. I was thinking, the government really know how to kill people and live a good life with tax extorting from the flesh and blood of the people.

Coventry Healthcare insurance

Posted on June 25th, 2008 in Arts & Humanities, General Living, health by jiajun925

Some days ago, I was shocked by the stories of my friends. They are married Chinese. Normally they have the husband at some colleges and they soon have baby when got to America. I still do not understand how much attractive becoming American it is by having birth here. But it seems that a lot of ladies are doing that. I think I could not just push one baby out without any insurance. But they do. They do not have any insurance. They just want to convince the hospital to give them free medical care by showing they are poor and their visas are over now. But since they are pregnant, it is difficult to put them on plane.
One of the friends fell into some panic. I tried to get some insurance for them. Maybe they can try Coventry Healthcare insurance. It is said that this coverage is ideal for self-employed individuals, part-time employees, students, singles and families.

Tax in my hometown

Posted on June 25th, 2008 in Arts & Humanities, Business & Economy, General Living, my home town -- Loudi city by jiajun925

When I was in China, the only time when I got to know tax was the time of harvest. At that time, we had to send the newest paddy to the government as tax. If the year was not so good, after the tax, we did not have so much to eat. From this year, you could know, peasant are the bottom people in China. They work like slaves so hard, in the end we still could not get crop-full.

Recently people just leave the hometown and do part-time job  in other province. Nobody wants to work like a bull in the field anymore.

moving

I think if you want to go to live in other countries, international moving is the most difficult thing to do in the world. In my life, I did moving for many times, from China to Japan, from Japan to America.
The first time when I moved from China to Japan, it was absolutely an adventure. Before I went to Japan, I did not do anything. I did not make sure that I would apartment. I did not make sure that I would join the national insurance. I just packed all of my stuff in one suitcase and then got on the plane.
I think nobody wants to imitate my experience and does moving. You’d better visit international moving before you start everything. By browsing the extensive site you can find information on Real Estate, Mortgage, Moving, Apartment Hunting, Insurance, Careers, and Home Improvement.

Chinatown

Posted on June 25th, 2008 in Arts & Humanities, General Living, New York, Society & Culture by jiajun925

Tomorrow we will go to New York City. It is the first time for both of us to go there. Some days ago, when I check the information in the Chinese embassy site, it is said that there are many Chinese got stolen in New Jersey’s hotels recently.

So we did not plan to stay in New Jersey. We are going to stay in some hotel near to the embassy. And we plan to go to the Chinatown.

You know, in NYC, there are 3 Chinatowns. They are

From the internet, it is said that the image of Chinatown is dirty. and it is full of all kinds of bad thing there. You probably get cheated there. Or somebody try to sell fake stuff to you. We have to be careful.

networking

Posted on June 25th, 2008 in Arts & Humanities, Society & Culture by jiajun925

Now the economy was not so good. Everyday I was listening to the CNN radio. It is said that the gas prices are going up day by day. And there are more and more people losing their jobs. I am one of the people who even did not get a job after my graduation from Japan. I did not have so strong background for job. My bachelor was Japanese culture and master degree was Humanities. When I applied to Ph.D degree in Japan, it was engineering. It means that my engineering basis was like empty. I sent many resumes out. It is like throwing needle to the Pacific Ocean. There was no response.
After some months, honey’s company set up me on some career program. They told me that I need to get into some net work to appeal myself and tell people I am here. Sitting at home will not bring me any good news. I must do something to break the ice.
Some days ago, I was invited to SocialSpark. First I was not so excited about that. I thought it was just another way of making money by submitting post. I was doing PPP. I thought why they just merge them together since they have the same kind of functions. So I did not visit SocialSpark so much for a long time even thought I signed up there.
But I kept receiving friends request from there. I ignored for a little while. Then I went to accept their requests according to my curiosity. I found that there are some great bloggers there. The most important thing is that I could learn a lot from them. Now I think I finally got into some network now.

squirrel

Posted on June 24th, 2008 in Arts & Humanities, General Living by jiajun925

I am afraid of squirrel now.

The tulip season was over. I left the root on the deck. For a long time, nothing happened. After I stopped putting peanuts on the deck, it seems that somebody is really mad at me. Almost everyday I could find something was destroyed.

First I found the root of the tulip was  dug out and eaten. And then I took the broken tulip into the room. I left the dainthus outside. This morning, my poor dainthus got cut by something, the top was gone.
